7 Life Lessons from Carving Pumpkins!

Posted by Pat on October 29, 2017 in Uncategorized |

It’s practically Halloween. Schools will have parties, Trick-or-Treaters will out in droves seeking candy, and Jack-o-Lanterns will be decorating porches around the town.

The question is, as you carved your pumpkin, did you realize how many of the secrets to success in life are wrapped in that large orange oval?

Here’s some of what I found!

1. Get inside- Be willing to open ourselves up to the possibilities ahead.

2. Have a plan- Whether a simple one with triangles for eyes and nose and a toothy grin or something more intricate, it helps when we have a plan so we and everyone knows what we’re trying to accomplish.

3. Get at the guts of the issue- This is sometimes the hard part, because it usually doesn’t feel good. Sometimes the “seeds of distraction: can pull us off target. It can be slimy and uncomfortable but if we don’t get deep into the heart of the issue our final product/idea/day/life might be only a surface-level achievement.

4. Cut to the chase- The sharper the knife (skill) the better the results. Take action with confidence and don’t rush because sometimes if we cut off more than we wanted, we can damage our entire project/life.

5. Attention to detail- Once the initial steps have been taken, it’s time to go back and “check our work.” Fine tune anything we can and look at things from all angles so people looking from the outside see our best work/life possible.

6. Light it up…from the inside- Inspiration usually comes from the outside but motivation comes from within. We often need to reach deep in our souls and re-ignite the pilot light we have that fuels our passion. When it is shining brightly, people can see our commitment to excellence from far away.

7. Put your work on display- Once we’ve done all the work and we feel good about the final result, it’s time to “pump” our chest out and let everyone see our awesomeness.

8. Can you add any others..?

There are lessons everywhere, but

there’s no costume needed for success in life!
