“We” Invented Hot Blue?

Posted by Pat on August 10, 2014 in Uncategorized |

Hot blue, sadly, is not born of the natural world. There are no hot-blue vegetables or flowers, no hot-blue fruits or whole grains.

Actually, there is no actual blue food.  Even blueberries are actually purple! I don’t know why they are called “blueberries” but they are purple. (There are indigo purplish-blue fruits though.)

And scientifically speaking, the lovely rose can’t be blue rosesany shade of blue-hot, cold, frozen, or otherwise-due to the limits of genetics and natural variation, a mystery that reminds us there are still things out there in the universe to contemplate and spend our lives chasing.

So we learned to dye white roses blue! And in 2004, researchers used genetic modifications to create roses that contain the blue pigment delphinidin. We wanted blue roses!

So blue roses were invented by mere mortals like you and me!

And Crayola was on to something with its 19 variations of blue since 1903! blue crayola color

Knowing this provides us with an unexpectedly welcome flash of insight on these weltering, sticky, humid summer afternoons. blog hot blueAnd that’s because on such days we can head out to observe a couple of kids ordering 100% artificially azure snow cones.

We can allow ourselves to suddenly comprehend that yes, being a human is challenging, but there are distinct benefits!

We can make impossibilities possible with only syrup and dye! We can bless ourselves with a mouthful of frozen, sweet, idealized sky!

And what else can we invent?

Whatever our imaginations allow!

How about this delightful shampoo cap?

Or…

did “we” invent  anything really?

Is it possible that the creative power in the universe is what does it all through our human imagination and skills?

Does our imagination and vision come from something other than our “minds”? After all, is inspiration a talent we have or a gift we receive? And if received, from where?

A look at the night sky might inspire us to think outside of ourselves, to agree with Hamlet when he said,

“There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” ― William Shakespeare

After all, the ancient and hottest stars are blue or blue-white, and just perhaps there is more to the creative and inventive process than we have previously acknowledged.

We are blessed with life, with energy, with creativity.

What “hot blue” ideas do you have

for either the universe or you yourself to create?

  • Don”t forget blue hair and blue fingernails. I like blue, all shades. I once ordered a “blue” rose bush. It was lavender but pretty. We still have blue skies and blue oceans, both are vast and should be enough blue to keep us happy.

Mary Kay, the “blue” skies and “blue” oceans are immense examples of the gift of the color blue and I too love blue of all shades!
