2 days free from worry!

Posted by Pat on June 18, 2023 in Uncategorized |

There are two days in every week that we don’t have to worry, two days which we can easily keep free from fear or apprehension. And it isn’t one of these!

One of these days is YESTERDAY with its mistakes and cares, its faults and blunders, its aches and pains. YESTERDAY has passed forever beyond our control. All the money in the world cannot bring back YESTERDAY. We cannot undo a single act we performed. We cannot erase a single word we said. YESTERDAY is gone.

One of my favorite inspirational writers, Og Mandino, states in one of his famous books (The Greatest Salesman in the World):

“I will waste not a moment mourning yesterday’s misfortunes, yesterday’s defeats, yesterday’s aches of the heart, for why should I throw good after bad?”

The other day we should not worry about is TOMORROW with its possible adversities, its burdens, its large promise and poor performance.

And since it’s beyond our immediate control why throw now after maybe?

The sun will rise TOMORROW either in splendor or behind the clouds, but it will rise! And until it does, it’s not yet here to worry about.

That leaves only one day: TODAY. And we can fight the battles of just one day. It is only when you and I add the burdens of those overwhelming days of YESTERDAY & TOMORROW to TODAY that we falter.

It’s not the experience of TODAY that drives us mad, it’s regret or anger for something which happened YESTERDAY or the dread of what TOMORROW may bring.

Let’s choose to live just one day at a time and choose to make it a good one.

Anyone (besides me!) that catches themselves in either the past or the future instead of the PRESENT?

All too often I do get caught up in the ‘before times’. Perhaps if I’m going to look back, then I would do better to be remembering the wonderful, fun, loving times rather than the hurtful ones…and there were lots of those.

    Only all the time!
