Life is like baseball…

Baseball anyone?

I’m so glad that life is not a spelling bee where no matter how many words you have gotten right, if you make one mistake you are disqualified!

Life is more like a baseball season, where even the best team loses a third of its games. Our goal is not to go all year without ever losing a game. Our goal is to win more than we lose.

In baseball if only 30% of the time we hit safely to base then we are an all-star player.

In real life, if 51% of our decisions are mostly good, then we can be a massive success in life.

And…

it’s been said that if more than 70% of our decisions are good, then we are probably a failure because we aren’t taking enough risks!

So…

50-60% seems to be the right mix. Our goal is not to go all year without ever losing a game. Our goal is to win more than we lose.

So not being perfect is fine!

Making mistakes is okay!

So here’s to some fun observations about life and baseball attributed to one of American’s most beloved baseball heroes and humorists Yogi Berra!

“Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical.”

“We made too many wrong mistakes.”

“It ain’t over ’til its over.”

“If you can’t imitate him, don’t copy him.”

“If you don’t know where you’re going, you might not get there.”

“In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.”

Pick your favorite and share how it applies in your life!
