Love the sun!

Summer has arrived, and to me this is a time of celebrating Life! Recent graduates are beginning their new lives and we’ve just recently experienced the summer solstice. (And it’s not yet too hot as we revel in the current warmth and sunshine.)

I remember reading an article that talked about the power of one ray of sunlight. Did you know that it takes about 8 minutes and 20 seconds for that one ray of sun to arrive on that blade of grass in the yard?

Everything on earth depends on the sun doing what it does, whether it’s plants, animals, or people. The cycle of life as we know it is sustained by the sun.

That same source that can scorch and burn in the tropics can also gently enter into the tiniest of cells in a plant and give it life, enabling it to flourish.

With all the increased sunshine of the season, nature is now showing off in all its beauty.

And I remember that even when the sun is hiding behind a cloud, it is always there.

And so I believe it is with us.

The life, the light, within us is always there even if seemingly obscured by circumstances in our life or hiding behind our fears.

So…

as you enjoy the sun warming your world, let yourself also enjoy your light illuminating your life and that of those around you.

This is a time for celebration of all that we have and all that is available to us.

Will you let your light shine?

This post brought to mind the little song we sang as kids: ‘This little light of mine – I’m gonna let it shine!’
